HOD Heavy Duty Caster Series

This guide is for buyers who see wheel names such as YUPA, PU or ER and want to know what is on offer. We list the materials exactly as our catalogue prints them and say which series carries each one. We do not rate one material against another here, because that depends on your floor and your load.

Read the wheel material first

Two casters can look alike and still have different wheels. The wheel option is part of the product, and the catalogue lists a load rating for each option. In the heavy duty series, for example, the load range changes from one wheel option to the next.

So never order by series name alone. Name the wheel material too, and quote the product code if you have it. The code ends with a wheel code after the dash.

We use the catalogue abbreviations in this guide. We do not expand them here. If you want to know what a name means for your job, ask us. Tell us your floor and load and we will confirm.

Materials in the heavy duty series

Our catalogue lists the HOD 72 and 73 heavy duty series with double bearing wheels and load ratings from 120 to 505 kg. It has thirteen wheel options in these materials:

  • YUPA
  • PU
  • Iron Core PU
  • PA
  • ER
  • TPR

Each wheel option comes as a swivel top plate caster, a swivel top plate caster with brake and a rigid top plate caster. PU has the most options, and PA and TPR have one each.

The same material can appear with different load ranges. PU, for example, is listed with five different ranges in this series. So quote the full product code when you can, not only the material name.

Materials in the medium / heavy duty series

The HOD 62 series is listed with double bearing wheels and load ratings from 80 to 330 kg. It has seven wheel options: PP, two PU, PA, two ER and TPR.

PP appears here and not in the heavy duty series. YUPA and Iron Core PU appear in the heavy duty series and not here. Check which series lists the material you need before you ask for a price.

This series is listed as swivel and rigid top plate casters, swivel threaded stem casters and swivel bolt hole casters, with brake options.

Materials in other series

Other series carry their own wheel materials. We name them as the catalogue does.

  • Light Duty: PU and TPR.
  • Medium / Light Duty: nylon, PU and TPR.
  • Shock absorbing: ER, Al.PU and Iron Core PU.
  • Conductive: Conductive TPR.
  • Foam wheel: Foaming.
  • Pneumatic: Pneumatic.
  • Extra Heavy Duty, Heavy Low Gravity and Extra Heavy Low Gravity: PA.
  • Stainless steel: TPR / Pure Nylon Core in the S-Series, and High Temp / Solid Nylon wheel options in the L-Series.

Some series, such as Medical and High-temperature resistance, do not list a wheel material as a group label. Ask us what the product documents say.

Use the caster finder to filter models by wheel material. Read the load range for each model there before you shortlist, and compare it with your load per caster.

How to choose, without guessing

Floor, heat, washing and chemicals all affect the wheel material. Tell us the facts and we will confirm.

The facts that matter are the floor, the load and how the trolley is used.

  • Floor type and condition: smooth, rough, wet, oily.
  • Whether chemicals or washing are involved.
  • The load per caster, not only the total.
  • Whether the floor is marked easily and noise matters.
  • Whether you already use a wheel you are happy with, so we can match it.

What to send us for a quote

  • What the trolley or equipment is, and what it carries.
  • The full loaded weight and the number of casters.
  • The floor type, and whether it is wet, oily or washed with chemicals.
  • The wheel material, if you know it, using the catalogue name such as PU, PA or TPR.
  • The mounting: top plate, threaded stem, bolt hole or other fitting.
  • Fixed, swivel or brake, and how many of each.
  • A photo or the product code of your old caster.

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp. Tell us your floor and load and we will confirm the right wheel material.
