This guide is for kitchen managers, bakery owners and maintenance teams who buy casters for racks and trolleys. Heat, grease and daily washing wear out the wrong caster fast. A wrong order means stopped trolleys, lost time and a second purchase.

Know where the trolley goes

Write down the full route of each trolley. A rack may go from the prep area to the oven, to the cooling area and then to the wash bay. Each step has a different condition. A caster that is fine in the prep area may fail near the oven door.

Also note how often the trolley moves. A rack that goes in and out of the oven all day works harder than one that sits in a cold room. Busy racks need the most careful choice.

The hottest point decides the wheel. Check it first. We cannot choose a caster from the word "oven" alone, because ovens differ. Ask us to confirm the temperature range for your oven.

Heat: the wheel and the bearing both matter

Heat can affect the bearing as well as the wheel. Not every wheel suits heat, so tell us the hottest point.

Our high-temperature series is the HOD C1 and C2 range, rated at 100 to 150 kg in the catalogue. It comes with bushing construction or double bearings, as swivel and rigid casters, with brake options. The catalogue does not list a temperature for these casters, so ask us to confirm the temperature range for your oven.

Grease, water and cleaning chemicals

Kitchen floors are often wet or greasy. Grease can make a brake slip, and water can rust a steel bracket. Wet floors and cleaning chemicals affect which wheel and bracket material you need.

Flour dust, oil and spilt liquids all collect around wheels and axles. A wheel that turns hard wastes staff effort and can scratch the floor.

Tell us what is on the floor and what you use to clean it. Also say whether trolleys are hosed down or only wiped. Then we can advise on the right material.

When to choose stainless steel

If racks are washed often, tell us, and we will say if a stainless steel series fits. Our catalogue lists stainless steel casters in SUS 304 and 316L, in three series: S-Series light duty, MC / M-Series medium duty and L-Series heavy duty. The MC / M-Series is rated up to 250 kg each.

The L-Series lists high-temperature and solid nylon wheel options. Ask us which option fits your kitchen. Do not assume that a stainless bracket alone makes a caster right for heat.

Brakes and loading

A loaded rack is heavy and tall. A brake on at least two casters keeps it from rolling while staff load trays. On a slope, tell us, and we will help you decide how many brakes you need.

Count the full weight: the rack, the trays and the food. Divide it by the number of casters, then leave margin. Undersized casters wear out early and can put staff at risk. A rack that tips or stops suddenly can also spill hot trays.

Keep the old casters when you can. They show the mounting, the height and the wear pattern, and a photo of them saves time on the quote.

Check how the old caster fits: top plate, threaded stem or bolt hole. Rigid casters on one pair and swivel casters on the other is a common setup, but follow your current rack. Our caster finder filters by mounting type.

What to send us for a quote

  • What the trolley or rack is, and what it carries.
  • Total loaded weight and number of casters.
  • The hottest temperature the casters will see, and for how long. If you are not sure, tell us the oven model.
  • What is on the floor: water, grease, flour, cleaning chemicals.
  • How you clean: wipe, wash or hose down.
  • Mounting type, with a photo or measurements of the old caster.
  • Fixed, swivel or brake, and how many of each.
  • The quantity you need.
