This guide is for hotel engineers, housekeeping managers and laundry supervisors who buy casters for carts and trolleys. These trolleys run every day, often in front of guests. A noisy or stuck wheel costs time and leaves a poor impression.
Think about the guest corridor first
Housekeeping carts move through quiet corridors, often early in the morning. Tell us if floors show marks or noise.
Walk the route of each trolley before you order. Note the floors, the lift, the door thresholds and the turns. Note where staff park and load the trolley. This helps you describe the job to us.
Tell us the floor type. Carpet, marble, tile and service-area concrete each behave differently under a wheel. A trolley may also cross all four in one trip.

Carpet, tile, lift gaps and door thresholds all affect how a small wheel rolls.
So the wheel size and the wheel material both matter. Our medium / light duty 42 series has dual bearing wheels in nylon, PU and TPR. Tell us your floors, and we will confirm the right wheel. If the trolley uses a lift, send us the lift details, including the gap at the door.
Daily use, load and replacement
A housekeeping cart carries towels, linen, cleaning supplies and sometimes a waste bag. A laundry trolley can hold a full load of wet linen, which is much heavier than dry linen. Weigh a full trolley before you order, and write the figure down. Do this for the heaviest trolley you run, not the average one. Staff often overload a trolley at the end of a busy checkout day.
Divide the full weight by the number of casters, then leave margin. The 42 series is listed at 53 to 100 kg per caster in the catalogue, depending on the wheel material. If your load is higher, tell us and we will look at another series.
Heavier trolleys and complete sets
If your trolley is heavier, our universal trolley range is listed at 150 to 200 kg. The catalogue lists seven models: TC-300W, TC-150, TC-300, TC-150S2, TC-300S2, TC-150S3 and TC-300S3.

Brakes and handling
Decide where brakes matter: the laundry room, the lift lobby or the loading area. Tell us which casters on the trolley need a brake, and which can be plain swivel or rigid.
Brakes matter in the laundry room and at lift doors. A brake on at least two casters keeps a trolley from rolling on a slope or when staff load it. The 42 series comes with and without a brake, in swivel and rigid versions.
Laundry rooms are often wet and busy, with several trolleys in a small space. Brakes and easy turning keep them under control.
Check the handle height and the turning space too. A trolley that bumps the walls can damage them.
Think about who pushes the trolley. Staff push it all day, so easy steering saves effort. Swivel casters make turning easy, and rigid casters help it track straight down a long corridor.
Wheels wear out on busy trolleys, so plan for replacement. Keep a record of the code on each caster. Then a repeat order is easier to check. See our caster range for all series.
