This guide is for retail managers, shopfitters and facility teams who put casters on displays, gondolas and shop fixtures. You want fixtures that move for a promotion and then stand still. The wrong caster scratches the floor, makes noise or lets a loaded unit roll.
Decide how the fixture moves and stops
Some fixtures move once a month. Others move every day for restocking, cleaning or a new layout. The more often a fixture moves, the more the caster matters.
Write down the route. A display may roll across tile, carpet, a floor mat and a door threshold. Wheel material changes noise and floor marks, so tell us about your floors.
Think about the people who move the fixture. Staff may move it after closing, or a single person may move it in the middle of the day. Tell us who moves it and how often.
Then decide where it must stay put, and tell us which casters need a brake. If the shop floor slopes, mention it in your enquiry.
Weigh the fixture when it is full
A shelf unit looks light when it is empty. Stock changes the picture. Weigh the fixture fully stocked, or add up the shelves and the products. Divide the total by the number of casters, then leave margin.
Allow margin for a unit that is pushed or leaned on, and for the day you add more stock. Tell us if the unit is tall or narrow, and whether it holds heavy items on the top shelves.
Also tell us if the fixture is a permanent counter that moves rarely. A fixture that stays in place for months is a different request from one that rolls every week.
Light fixtures
Our light duty series is listed at 8 to 65 kg per caster, in three groups:
- PU wheels with Delrin bearing, 12 to 65 kg.
- TPR wheels with Delrin bearing, 8 to 40 kg.
- TPR wheels with single bearing, 10 to 50 kg.
The catalogue lists swivel and rigid top plate casters and swivel threaded stem casters. The two Delrin bearing groups also come with brake. Tell us the weight and your floor, and we will confirm the right group.
Fixtures that carry more
If your fixture is heavier than the light duty series, tell us. Our medium / light duty series is the HOD 42 range, listed at 53 to 100 kg per caster. It has dual bearing wheels in four groups:
- Nylon, 75 to 100 kg.
- PU, 70 to 85 kg.
- PU, 65 to 80 kg.
- TPR, 53 to 70 kg.
The catalogue lists swivel and rigid top plate casters, swivel threaded stem casters and other swivel fittings, with and without brake. Send us the fully loaded weight and the number of casters, and we will confirm the right series.
Floors, base and fitting
Scratches, black marks and noise are easy for customers to see and hear. Tell us if your floor is polished tile, timber, vinyl or carpet, and whether you have had marks before.
Check the fixture base before you refit casters. Look at how the fixture takes a caster now: top plate, threaded stem or another fitting. A photo of the old caster or the empty mounting point is enough to start. Our caster finder filters by mounting type.
Fit all the casters on a fixture from the same series and wheel material, so they wear alike. If you refit many fixtures in a chain of shops, use one caster code for the whole fixture type. Keep the old caster as a sample.
What to send us for a quote
- What the fixture is, and what it holds.
- Total stocked weight and the number of casters.
- The floors it rolls across, and any thresholds or mats.
- Whether noise or floor marks matter in your shop.
- Mounting type, with a photo or measurements of the old caster.
- Fixed, swivel or brake, and how many of each.
- The quantity you need.
Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right series for your fixtures.
