This guide is for facility managers, school administrators and training centre teams who buy casters for mobile furniture and equipment. That can be teaching carts, AV carts, storage units and lab benches. A caster that does not fit means a unit that stays in the corner, so here is what to check and what to tell us.
Start with the type of equipment
A school or training centre has many kinds of mobile items, and each one carries a different load. Make a list before you contact us.
- AV and projector carts: equipment on shelves, with cables.
- Teaching carts and book trolleys: loads that change through the day.
- Storage units and cabinets: heavy once they are full.
- Workshop benches and lab benches: tools, machines or lab equipment on top.
- Demonstration stands: moved often between rooms.
Group the items by weight. Items in the same group may use the same series, which keeps replacement orders simple. Tell us the groups and we will confirm which series to look at.
Work out the load per caster
Weigh the unit when it is full, not when it is empty. A cart with equipment on it weighs more than the frame alone. Add anything that is stored in or on the unit. Write the weight next to each item on your list, so your quote request is complete.
Divide the full weight by the number of casters, and leave margin. The catalogue ratings are per caster. On an uneven floor, one caster can carry more than its share, so do not order from the very top of a range. Tell us if a unit is tall or narrow.
If you buy for several rooms, send one list for the whole site. Show each unit with its full weight, its number of casters and the room it lives in.
Light duty series
Our light duty series is listed at 8 to 65 kg per caster. It has three groups: PU wheels with Delrin bearing, TPR wheels with Delrin bearing, and TPR wheels with single bearing. It comes as swivel and rigid top plate casters and as swivel threaded stem casters. The two Delrin bearing groups also come with a brake.
Medium / light duty and medium duty series
Our medium / light duty series is the HOD 42 range. It is listed at 53 to 100 kg per caster, with dual bearing wheels in nylon, PU and TPR. It comes with top plate, threaded stem and other swivel fittings, with and without a brake.
Our medium duty series is listed in two parts. The 51 series has a single ball bearing and is listed at 30 to 160 kg. The 52 series has a double ball bearing and is listed at 35 to 170 kg. Both have top plate, threaded stem and bolt hole fittings, with brake options.
If your unit sits near the limit of one series, tell us the full weight and the number of casters. We will confirm which series to quote.
Floors, brakes and fittings
Tell us each floor your units cross, such as tile, vinyl or concrete, and any floor that must stay unmarked. Wheel material changes noise and floor marks, and we will confirm the wheel options for you.
Tell us which units must stay put while they are in use, and how many casters on each need a brake. In our catalogue the brake versions are swivel casters.
Check how the old caster is fitted: top plate, threaded stem or bolt hole. If you replace casters on furniture you already own, keep one old caster, or measure the plate and the holes. Our caster finder filters by mounting, wheel material, brake and load.
What to send us for a quote

- The full weight, and how many casters it has.
- The floor types it crosses, and any floor that must stay unmarked.
- Rigid, swivel or brake, and how many of each.
- The mounting type, with a photo or measurements of the old caster.
- The quantity you need, and the number of units.

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right series for your units.
