Gaskets and seals: what to send us for a quote

What to send us when you need flange gaskets or rubber seals: the part, the fluid, the conditions and the sizes, so we can quote the right material first time.

This guide is for maintenance managers, plant supervisors and buyers who order flange gaskets or rubber seals. A gasket or seal that arrives in the wrong material or size means a leak, a stopped machine and a second order. Here is what to send us so we can quote it right the first time.

Gaskets and seals are two different requests

Our catalogue lists gaskets and rubber seals as separate products. Both are sealing products, but they do different jobs.

  • Gaskets: our catalogue lists custom gasket materials for flange sealing, machinery, piping and industrial maintenance.
  • Rubber seals: our catalogue describes flexible sealing solutions designed to help prevent leakage, vibration, dust and moisture entry.

Decide which one you are asking for. If you are not sure, send us a photo of the joint and tell us what is leaking or moving. We will help you sort it out.

What to tell us about a flange gasket

A flange gasket is cut to fit one joint, so the size must be exact. A guess from memory can mean a wrong order. Measure the old gasket if you still have it, or measure the flange.

Tell us:

  • The inside and outside size of the gasket, with units
  • The position and size of the bolt holes, or send the old gasket as a pattern
  • Whether the flange face is flat or has a raised face
  • The thickness you need, or the gap between the flanges when bolted up
  • How many pieces you need

If the old gasket is damaged, send it anyway. Even a broken one shows the shape and the bolt pattern.

Tell us what the gasket must seal

The size is only half of the order. The material depends on what touches the gasket. Our catalogue does not give a single gasket material for all jobs, so we confirm the material with you for each request.

Tell us:

  • The fluid or gas in the line, for example water, oil, fuel, steam or a chemical
  • The working temperature and the highest temperature the joint can reach
  • The working pressure
  • Whether the joint is opened often for maintenance

If a chemical is involved, give us its name. If you have a safety data sheet for the fluid, send it. Do not send us a general description such as "hot oil". Give the name and the numbers from your own system.

What to tell us about a rubber seal

Rubber seals are used to keep something out or in. Our catalogue lists leakage, vibration, dust and moisture entry. Say which of these is your problem.

Tell us:

  • Where the seal sits: a door, a cover, a pipe joint, a machine housing or another place
  • Whether it must stay still or move, and how much
  • The length and the cross-section shape, or send a piece of the old seal
  • Whether it sits outdoors, near oil or near cleaning chemicals

A photo of the seal in place helps more than a long description. Add a ruler or a coin in the photo so we can judge the size.

Send a sample or a photo

Send an old part or a clear photo of it. If the old part has hardened, cracked or swollen, say so.

Photos should show the whole part and the place it fits. Add a ruler or a tape measure in the picture, so we can read the size without guessing.

You can also browse the full range on our industrial materials page. If you need a certificate or other papers for a material, ask us for the product documents when you request the quote.

What to send us for a quote

Send us this information, and we will confirm the material and the size:

  • Whether you need a gasket or a seal, and how many
  • The sizes with units: inside size, outside size, thickness, bolt hole positions or seal length
  • The part the gasket or seal fits, with a photo of the joint or housing
  • The fluid or gas, the working temperature and the working pressure
  • Whether the part is outdoors, near oil, or near cleaning chemicals
  • An old gasket, a piece of old seal or a drawing, if you have one

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right material.
