This guide is for gym owners, studio managers and fitness equipment makers who fit casters to mat racks, band and cuff storage and weight racks. Our catalogue does not list casters by gym use, so we match by load, floor and fitting. Here is how to prepare that request.
Work out the loaded weight yourself
Work from the rack when it is full. Weigh the empty rack, then add the weight of everything it holds on a busy day.
For a mat rack or a band rack, weigh a full set. For a weight rack, use the heaviest set you plan to store on it. We do not give weights for dumbbells, plates or racks in this guide, because they vary by product. Read them from your own equipment.
Divide the total by the number of casters the frame takes, and tell us both numbers. We will check the figure against each listed load range.
Use the caster finder to filter by mounting, wheel material, brake and load. Then send us the shortlist to check.
Light duty series
Our light duty series is listed at 8 to 65 kg per caster, in three groups:
- PU wheels with Delrin bearing: 12 to 65 kg.
- TPR wheels with Delrin bearing: 8 to 40 kg.
- TPR wheels with single bearing: 10 to 50 kg.
It comes as swivel and rigid top plate casters, and swivel threaded stem casters. The two Delrin bearing groups also come with brake. If you want a brake, tell us the weight per caster and we will confirm which group applies. See the light duty page for the full listing.
Medium / light duty series
Our medium / light duty series is the HOD 42 range, listed at 53 to 100 kg per caster. Every wheel is a dual bearing wheel. The four groups are:
- Nylon: 75 to 100 kg.
- PU: 70 to 85 kg.
- PU: 65 to 80 kg.
- TPR: 53 to 70 kg.
The catalogue lists swivel and rigid top plate casters, swivel threaded stem casters and other swivel fittings, with and without brake. The wheel material changes the load range, so do not compare the series by its overall figure alone. Tell us the weight per caster and the floor.
Medium duty series
Our medium duty series is the HOD 51 and 52 range. Series 51 has single ball bearings and is listed at 30 to 160 kg. Series 52 has double ball bearings and is listed at 35 to 170 kg.
The catalogue lists swivel and rigid top plate casters, swivel threaded stem casters and swivel bolt hole casters, with brake options. Tell us the weight per caster and the fitting you need, and we will confirm which series to quote.
Floor, noise and brakes
Tell us what the floor is made of, for example rubber tile, timber, vinyl or concrete. Tell us if the floor is polished or has a coating. We do not claim that any wheel in the catalogue leaves no marks, so we ask for your floor before we confirm a wheel.
Noise matters in a studio or a room next to a class. Say so in your enquiry. Wheel material changes both noise and marks, and we will confirm options once we know the floor.
Tell us how the rack is moved: along a corridor, or turned in a small storeroom. That helps us ask the right questions about swivel and rigid casters. Decide which casters need a brake. In our catalogue the brake versions are swivel casters, and the rigid casters are listed without a lock. Tell us how many casters you want braked, and whether the rack stands on a slope.
What to send us for a quote
- What the rack is, and what it holds.
- Loaded weight, and the number of casters the frame takes.
- A photo of the frame and of the fitting: top plate, threaded stem, bolt hole or other.
- The floor type, and whether noise matters.
- Rigid, swivel or brake, and how many of each.
- The height you can allow for the caster, if the frame limits it.
- The old caster or its code, if you are replacing one.
- The quantity you need.
Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right series for your racks.
