A courier tips a hand truck loaded with cardboard boxes outside a warehouse door

This guide is for owners and managers of small warehouses and stores who need to move boxes and stock. You can build a trolley from a board and casters, or ask us about the trolleys in our catalogue. Here is how to decide, and what to tell us.

Build or order from the catalogue

A trolley you build needs casters, a frame and fixings. Check each part before you order.

Our catalogue lists universal and platform trolleys by model code and load range. Tell us what you plan to move and we will confirm what each model is.

Tell us what you move and we will say what we can offer. A short description is enough to start, such as "cartons of stock, moved by one person".

If you want casters only, say so. If you want a listed model, tell us which one, or send the code you have on file.

Know your load and your space

Weigh your heaviest typical load. Include the boxes, the pallets or crates, and anything added on top.

Then measure the aisles and doorways. A trolley that does not fit through your narrowest door is no use. Note any ramps, lift entries and thresholds.

Write down the weight of the heaviest load and the number of trolleys you need. Tell us how often you move loads, how far, and whether one person pushes or two. Do not buy for the lightest day. Buy for the heaviest.

The catalogue gives the load range and the model codes for each listing. It does not give a deck size or a trolley height, so do not guess them. Tell us what the trolley must carry and its size, and we will confirm the model.

Hand truck casters

Our plastic hand truck casters are listed by HOD as the T1 Trolley Caster Series. The catalogue lists a load rating of 140 to 150 kg. There are two models: T140320-505 as a swivel top plate caster and T140310-505 as a rigid top plate caster.

These are casters, not a full trolley. Tell us the weight of your hand truck and its load, and we will confirm the right model.

Platform and universal trolleys

Our catalogue lists platform trolleys at 380 to 400 kg, in three models: TC1-150, TC1-180 and TC1-380. Tell us the size and weight of your loads, and we will confirm which model to look at.

It also lists universal trolleys at 150 to 200 kg, in seven models: TC-300W, TC-150, TC-300, TC-150S2, TC-300S2, TC-150S3 and TC-300S3. The model names differ, so send us what you plan to carry and the size of the trolley you want.

Compare before you order

Put your needs next to the catalogue figures. Compare them with your heaviest load, not your usual load.

A trolley that is rated close to your heaviest load leaves you no room. Pick a rating above it.

Then check the size. The load must not overhang into the aisle, and the trolley must pass your narrowest door with the load on it.

Tell us the floor type: smooth concrete, rough concrete, tile or an outdoor yard. Floor and wheel together decide how easily a trolley rolls. Follow the maker's instructions and your site safety officer on loading and moving.

If none of the listed trolleys fits, tell us. We can then talk about casters for a trolley you build yourself. Our caster finder can also help. Keep a note of the model code you order.
