This guide is for maintenance managers, workshop supervisors and buyers who need nylon rod or sheet for rollers, spacers and wear parts. It explains what our catalogue says about nylon and what to tell us. A clear enquiry lets us confirm the right size without a second round of questions.
What our catalogue says about nylon
Our catalogue lists nylon rod and nylon sheet as strong engineering plastic profiles suitable for machining, rollers, spacers and wear parts. That is the full description. It names no grade, and it gives no hardness or load figure.
So we do not choose a nylon by the word "nylon" alone. We ask you what the part does, and we confirm what we can quote from that. If your drawing names a grade, copy the name into your enquiry exactly as written.
If you will machine the part yourself, send us the finished size, so we can confirm the rod or sheet size to quote. If you are unsure whether nylon is the right material, our guide on nylon or PTFE sets out what the catalogue lists for each.
Rod or sheet
Rod is a round profile. Sheet is a flat one. Which one you need depends on the shape of the part you will make.
- A roller or a round spacer starts from rod.
- A flat pad, a plate or a wear strip starts from sheet.
- If you are not sure, send the drawing and we will confirm which one to quote.
For rod, tell us the diameter and the length. For sheet, tell us the length, the width and the thickness. Write every size in millimetres, and use the same unit everywhere.
If you need a special size, tell us and we will check what we can offer. Say how long each piece must be and how many pieces you need.
Rollers and spacers
A roller turns, and a spacer holds two parts apart. They are different jobs, and the enquiry should say which one it is.
For a roller, tell us what it carries or touches: a belt, a sheet, a chain or a guide. Say how long the roller is and what diameter it has. Say whether it turns on a shaft or is fixed. If the roller has a bore, give the bore size too. A shaft diameter on the drawing helps us check the rod size you ask for.
For a spacer, tell us what it sits between and what presses on it. A short sketch with the sizes is enough. Say whether the spacer is a plain round piece or has a hole through it, and give the bore size if it does.
If the part replaces one made of another material, tell us what that material was and why you want to change it. Tell us and we will confirm what to quote.
Wear parts and conditions
The catalogue lists wear parts as a use for nylon. Describe the part in your own words and send a photo.
Tell us how the part wears today. Tell us whether it slides, takes impacts or rubs against a moving surface. Write what you see, and add a photo of the worn part if you have one.
Then tell us about the surroundings: water, oil, cleaning fluid, heat or outdoor weather. The catalogue gives no limits for nylon, so we do not state any here. Send the facts and we will confirm.
Other materials in our catalogue
Our catalogue also lists PU coating. If your part is a metal part that wears, ask us about it.
You can see the full list on our industrial materials page.
What to send us for a quote
- What the part is: roller, spacer, wear part or something else.
- Rod or sheet, or a drawing so we can tell you which.
- For rod: diameter and length. For sheet: length, width and thickness. All in millimetres.
- The grade named on your drawing, if there is one.
- What the part touches or carries, and how it wears now.
- The surroundings: water, oil, cleaning fluid, heat or outdoor weather.
- The quantity you need.
Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right material.
