This guide is for workshops, stockholders and service centres that cut solid stainless steel bar. It shows which of our blade versions list a stainless rating, and what to tell us so we can confirm the right one. Stainless tube is a different job, and we cover it in our guide to saw blades for stainless steel tubes.
Start with the bar, not the tube
Our catalogue sorts blades by what they cut. KINS' BLUE and KINS' ORANGE are the tube lines. KINS' RED is described as a TCT (tungsten carbide tipped) line for solid steel bars and other dense metals, cut on a stationary saw.
Our catalogue lists KINS' RED for solid steel bars, so we begin with it. Our HSS (high-speed steel) line, KINS' GREEN, also has stainless versions. The catalogue rates those mostly on tube, so we cover them after the KINS' RED versions.
KINS' RED versions with a stainless rating
Three KINS' RED versions list stainless rows. The catalogue uses the words Austenitic Stainless and Non-Austenitic Stainless.
- Stainless Small: Austenitic Stainless 8, Non-Austenitic Stainless 8, Small Diameter 8, Large Diameter 4.
- Stainless Large: Austenitic Stainless 8, Non-Austenitic Stainless 8, Small Diameter 4, Large Diameter 8.
- HT: Austenitic Stainless 7, Non-Austenitic Stainless 7, Medium Tensile 4, High Tensile 8.
The two Stainless versions differ only in the diameter rows. The catalogue does not say whether "diameter" means the blade or the bar. Ask us what it means for your saw before you choose between Small and Large.
KINS' GREEN versions with a stainless rating
KINS' GREEN has four versions with a Stainless Steel row:
- Stainless Performance: Stainless Steel 9, Cutting Speed 8, Blade Life 9.
- Stainless Stabilizer: Stainless Steel 8, Cutting Speed 6, Blade Life 8.
- Universal: Stainless Steel 6, Cutting Speed 5, Blade Life 6.
- Vapor: Stainless Steel 2, Cutting Speed 2, Blade Life 2.
The two Stainless versions also carry Tube and Thin Tube rows. None of the KINS' GREEN versions has a bar row. If you want to cut bar with an HSS blade, tell us the machine and the bar size. We will confirm whether to look at this line.
If you also cut carbon steel
Some saws cut mixed work. If you cut carbon steel and stainless steel on one saw, tell us the split. Do not assume that one blade fits both.
In KINS' RED, the LF, LT Performance, MT and MT Performance versions are rated on Low Tensile rows. LF, MT and MT Performance also have a Medium Tensile row. None of the four shows a stainless row. The stainless rows appear only on HT, Stainless Small and Stainless Large.
Before you move to another version, tell us what you cut today and what you plan to change. We will confirm the next step.
What the catalogue does not tell you
Stainless is not one material, and the catalogue does not list a grade for any blade. It separates austenitic from non-austenitic, and it does not say which grades fall under each name. Send the grade as written on your material sheet, and we will confirm the version. If the sheet is not at hand, send a photo of the bar end or its tag.
The pages also give no cutting speed, feed or coolant value for these blades. We do not quote them from a catalogue page. Ask the machine maker for your settings, and tell us what you run.
A score is a way to compare blades on the same page. It does not predict the result on your saw. Use the scores to build a shortlist, and send us the shortlist with your details. You can see every line on our saw blade page.
What to send us for a quote
- The saw make and model, and the blade size it takes.
- The stainless grade, as written on your material sheet, and whether you also cut carbon steel on the same saw.
- The bar shape and size. Give the smallest and largest if it changes.
- The old blade's code, or its diameter, bore, thickness and fixing holes.
- What is wrong with the current blade: short life, rough cuts or burrs, with photos of the blade and a cut piece.
- The blades from your shortlist, if you made one.
- The quantity you need.
Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right blade for your bar.
