Kinkelder KINS’ BLUE

This guide is for tube makers, fabricators and buyers who cut thin-wall steel tube and profile. Our catalogue rates thin tube on some blades in three lines. Here is how to read those rows, and what to tell us so we can confirm the right blade.

How the catalogue shows thin tube

Our catalogue does not set a wall thickness for "thin". It does not give a tooth pitch either. Thin tube appears only as a rating row on some blades, with a score.

So use the rows to build a shortlist, and nothing more. A score is a way to compare blades on the same line page. It is not a promise about your tube or your machine.

The row name changes from line to line. It is "Thin tube/profile" in KINS' ORANGE, "Thin tube" in KINS' BLUE and "Thin Tube" in KINS' GREEN. Not every blade has the row.

You know your tube better than the catalogue does. Measure the wall at the thinnest point you cut, and write it down with its unit. Do the same for the thickest tube you cut on the same saw. Send us both numbers, so we can check them against the rows.

KINS' ORANGE: flying cut-off

KINS' ORANGE is our TCT (tungsten carbide tipped) line for flying cut-off on tube mills. Two versions show a Thin tube/profile row:

  • SpeedMaster Performance: Thin tube/profile 10. Tube 8.
  • SpeedMaster: Thin tube/profile 7. Tube 9.

OrbitalMaster Pro has a Profile row and a Tube row, both rated 10, but no thin tube row. The other versions are rated for tensile strength, scarf or stainless steel. Tell us your tube and your mill, and we will confirm which version to look at.

KINS' BLUE: stationary and semi-automatic

KINS' BLUE is our TCT line for tubes, pipes and profiles on stationary and semi-automatic machines. Three versions show a Thin tube row, next to a Multi/thick tube row:

  • Performance: Thin tube 7. Multi/thick tube 7.
  • Stabilizer Performance: Thin tube 4. Multi/thick tube 4.
  • Multi Performance: Thin tube 4. Multi/thick tube 9.

Read the two rows together. They show where the catalogue rates each version on thin tube and on thick tube. If you cut both on one saw, tell us the range. The thick side has its own guide: thick-wall and multi-tube cutting.

KINS' GREEN: high-speed steel

KINS' GREEN is our HSS (high-speed steel) line. The catalogue describes it as typically used for low tensile and sub-range medium tensile steel, at lower cutting speeds and wall thicknesses. Four versions show a Thin Tube row:

  • Stabilizer: Thin Tube 9. Tube 7.
  • Stainless Stabilizer: Thin Tube 9. Tube 6.
  • Stainless Performance: Thin Tube 7. Tube 9.
  • Performance: Thin Tube 6. Tube 9.

The catalogue gives no wall thickness for any of these versions. Universal and Vapor have no Thin Tube row. Stainless Performance and Stainless Stabilizer carry a Stainless Steel row, so tell us if you cut stainless tube.

Do not compare scores across lines

Each line has its own page and its own set of rows. Do not assume that a 7 in one line equals a 7 in another. The catalogue does not explain the scale beyond the numbers.

A change of line is a change of blade type, from TCT to HSS or from flying cut-off to stationary. Tell us what you cut today and what you want to change, and we will confirm the next step. You can see every line on our saw blade page.

What to send us for a quote

Thin tube covers many shapes and walls. We will not choose a blade from the words "thin wall" alone. Please send:

  • The process: flying cut-off on a mill, or stationary or semi-automatic cutting.
  • The machine make and model, and the blade size it takes.
  • The tube material and grade, and whether you also cut stainless steel.
  • The tube shape, outside size and wall thickness. Give the range if it changes.
  • The old blade's code, or its diameter, bore, thickness and fixing holes.
  • What is wrong with the current blade: short life, rough cuts or burrs, with photos of the blade and a cut piece.
  • The quantity you need.

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right blade for your tube.
