HOD Light Duty Caster Series

This guide is for cleaning contractors, mall operators and facility managers who buy casters for janitorial carts and cleaning trolleys. You may run many carts across many buildings. A cart that will not roll straight wastes staff time, and a wrong order for a whole fleet means a second order.

Weigh the cart when it is full

A cleaning cart changes weight through the shift. It carries buckets, mops, bottles, spare supplies and full bin bags. Weigh one cart fully loaded, as it leaves the store room, and write the number down.

Divide that weight by the number of casters, then leave margin. Our guide to caster load capacity shows the method step by step. A load that sits close to the listed figure leaves you no room.

Also look at how hard the cart is used. A cart pushed all day through a mall works harder than one that stays in a corridor. Tell us how many hours it moves and how far.

Keep one old caster from each cart type. It shows us the fitting and the wheel, and a photo of it is enough to start a quote.

Think about the route and the floor

Write down the route from the store room to the work area. Note lifts, ramps, door thresholds and floor joints. Tell us about any gaps and steps on the route.

Visitors see the floors in malls and offices, and they hear the carts. Tell us what the floor is made of, and whether the cart works while the public is present. Tell us which cleaning products touch the wheels, and we will confirm the wheel material.

Put one series and one wheel material on every caster of a cart. Mixed casters can behave differently under the same load. When you buy for several buildings, keep one list of the series and wheel you chose, and send us the codes when you reorder.

Check the old casters on a few carts, not only one. Tell us if some carts wear faster than others, and where they work. That helps us see whether one choice can cover all your carts.

Light duty series

Our catalogue lists the light duty series at 8 to 65 kg per caster, in three groups. There are PU wheels with Delrin bearing, TPR wheels with Delrin bearing and TPR wheels with single bearing.

Swivel and rigid top plate casters and swivel threaded stem casters are listed, and the two Delrin bearing groups also come with brake. Tell us your loaded weight per caster and we will confirm which group to quote.

Medium / light duty series

Our medium / light duty series is the HOD 42 range, listed at 53 to 100 kg. It has nylon, PU and TPR wheels with dual bearing, in four groups, each with its own load range.

If your cart has a fitting that is not a top plate or threaded stem, send us a photo.

Medium duty series

Our medium duty series is the HOD 51 and 52 range. The catalogue rates the single bearing series from 30 to 160 kg and the double bearing series from 35 to 170 kg.

It comes as swivel and rigid top plate casters, swivel threaded stem casters and swivel bolt hole casters, with brake options. Check how your old caster fits before you order. Our caster finder filters by mounting, wheel material, brake and load.

Decide on brakes for each cart. Tell us if the cart stands on a ramp or slope, and how many casters you want braked. Our guide to caster brakes explained for buyers explains the choices.

What to send us for a quote

  • What the cart is, and who makes it if you know
  • The loaded weight, and the number of casters on the cart
  • The floors and the route: tiles, ramps, lifts, thresholds and gaps
  • Whether the cart works while visitors or staff are around
  • The cleaning products used on the wheels or the floor
  • The mounting type, with a photo or measurements of the old caster
  • Rigid, swivel or brake, and how many of each
  • How many carts you are fitting, and whether they are at one site or several

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right series for your carts. If your team needs product documents, ask us.
