Saw blade life or cutting speed: which matters

How our catalogue scores blade life and cutting speed on the KINS' GREEN, ORANGE and RED lines, and what to tell us so we can confirm the right blade.

Kinkelder KINS’ GREEN

This guide is for buyers, production supervisors and maintenance managers who order saw blades for tube, bar and profile cutting. Our catalogue scores many blades for blade life, and two lines also for cutting speed. Here is what those scores show, and what to tell us so we can confirm the blade.

What the catalogue scores

The ORANGE, BLUE, RED and GREEN line pages show rating rows for each blade. Most blades have a Blade Life score. Among the lines we compare here, only KINS' GREEN also has a Cutting Speed score. KINS' YELLOW lists one as well.

That limit matters when you compare lines. For KINS' ORANGE and KINS' RED, we can read the Blade Life scores, but the catalogue gives no Cutting Speed score. So we do not rank those lines by speed.

The scores are the catalogue's own. They are for comparing blades on the pages, and they do not predict your result. Read them together with the rows for your material, such as Stainless Steel, Low Tensile or Tube. Our guide to how to read Kinkelder blade ratings explains the rows in full.

Cutting speed and blade life on KINS' GREEN

The GREEN line is HSS. Our catalogue says the HSS blades provide resistance to heat generated during the cutting process. It adds that this results in longer blade life and reduced downtime for blade replacement. It lists both scores for each blade. Here they are, Cutting Speed first and Blade Life second.

  • Performance: 8 and 9
  • Stainless Performance: 8 and 9
  • Stabilizer: 8 and 9
  • Stainless Stabilizer: 6 and 8
  • Universal: 5 and 6
  • Vapor: 2 and 2

On this line, the blades with the higher speed score also have the higher life score. So the catalogue does not set one against the other here. The blades differ on other rows: tensile range, stainless steel, Tube and Thin Tube. Those rows will narrow your choice faster than the first two.

Blade life on KINS' ORANGE and KINS' RED

The ORANGE line is TCT, listed for flying cut-off on tube mills. Five ORANGE blades have a Blade Life score of 10, and OrbitalMaster Stainless scores 8. All six versions are in our guide to flying cut-off blades. With five blades on the same score, the choice rests on other rows, such as material, Scarf, Tube and Profile. For tube mill wear, read why tube mill saw blades wear out early.

On the RED line, LF and MT score 6 for Blade Life, and LT Performance and MT Performance score 7. HT and the two Stainless blades have no Blade Life row, so there is no life score to compare for them. The lines cover different jobs, so compare blades inside one line.

Decide which problem costs you more

The catalogue gives a speed score for only one line, so we cannot rank every blade for both life and speed. Start with your problem, then tell us. A blade that runs longer helps if blade changes stop your line. A faster blade helps only if the machine and the material allow it, so your maker's settings come first.

Tell us which of these is closer to your case:

  • You stop often to change blades, and the stops cost you time.
  • You need more output from the same machine.
  • Both matter, and you want us to compare the blades on your material.
  • You are not sure, and you want us to read the problem from your photos.

Tell us your machine, material and sizes, and we will confirm which blade to quote from our saw blade range.

What to send us for a quote

Send us this information, and we will confirm the blade:

  • The cutting job: tube, solid bar or profile, and the machine type
  • Whether the line is flying cut-off or a stationary machine
  • The material, such as carbon steel or stainless steel, and the tensile range if you know it
  • The tube or bar size and the wall thickness
  • The blade you use now, with a photo of it or its markings
  • The problem you want to fix: blade life, cutting speed or both
  • The quantity you need

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right blade for your job.
