Which Kinkelder blade for which metal

What our Kinkelder catalogue rates for steel, stainless and non-ferrous metal, why the lines are split by job, and what to tell us for a mixed workshop.

Kinkelder KINS’ GREEN

This guide is for workshop owners who cut steel, stainless steel and softer metal on one industrial saw. They want one blade for all of it. Our catalogue does not rate any blade for every metal, so here is what it does rate, and what to tell us. You can see every line in our saw blade range.

What the catalogue rates

Each Kinkelder blade has a short list of rated rows. The rows differ from blade to blade. One blade may show tensile rows and a stainless row. Another may show a non-ferrous row only. So a blade is rated for the materials it has rows for. A high score on one row says nothing about another row, so read each row for the metal you cut.

Our catalogue sorts the five lines by application: flying cut-off, stationary tube, solid stationary, HSS and segmental. Each line has its own set of rows. That is why no single page lists one blade for every metal.

If a metal has no row on a blade, tell us the metal and we will confirm what we can quote.

Steel: the tensile rows

Tensile rows refer to the strength of the steel. Our catalogue lists these rows for steel:

  • KINS' RED: Low Tensile, Medium Tensile and High Tensile rows, depending on the version.
  • KINS' GREEN: Low Tensile and Medium Tensile.

Inside a line, one version can cover more than one steel grade. KINS' RED MT Performance, for example, is rated 8 on Low Tensile and 8 on Medium Tensile. That covers two tensile classes, but only for steel, and only on that line's rows.

The GREEN line has a version called Universal. It is rated on Low Tensile, Medium Tensile and Stainless Steel, and it has no Non-Ferro row. The catalogue does not explain the name, so ask us what it means for your job.

See choosing saw blades by steel tensile strength and saw blades for cutting solid steel bars.

Stainless: rated on its own

Stainless steel has its own rows and its own versions. In KINS' RED, they are Stainless Small, Stainless Large and HT, rated on Austenitic and Non-Austenitic Stainless. The BLUE, ORANGE and GREEN lines each list stainless versions too.

A blade rated high on a steel row may be rated low on a stainless row. Read both. Tell us the grade. See saw blades for stainless steel bars.

Non-ferrous: one row, one blade

Only KINS' YELLOW carries a Non-Ferro row, scored 10. The catalogue does not name the metals behind that word. If you cut aluminium, copper or brass, send us the alloy and a photo of the bar. See saw blades for aluminium, copper and brass.

Mixed work on one saw

If one machine cuts several metals, list them all and say which you cut most. We will check the rows for each metal against the machine. Send the full list in one enquiry, so we can compare the rows together and give you one clear answer.

For a mixed workshop, we build a short list, not a single blade. Each entry on the list is tied to a material and a row on the line page. Our catalogue lists these rows:

  • Steel bar: KINS' RED, with its tensile rows.
  • Stainless: a stainless version, with its stainless rows.
  • Non-ferrous: the KINS' YELLOW Non-Ferro row, once we confirm the metal.

Blades in different lines are rated on different rows, so tell us before you change blade. We confirm each job on its facts: your machine, your material and the cut you need. For the rating rows, see how to read Kinkelder blade ratings.

What to send us for a quote

  • Every metal you cut on the machine, with its grade or alloy name, and which you cut most.
  • The shape and size of the material: bar, tube or profile, with wall thickness.
  • The machine make and model, and the blade size it takes.
  • The old blade code, or its diameter, bore, thickness and fixing holes, with photos.
  • What goes wrong now: short life, rough ends, chipped teeth or heat marks.
  • The quantity you need.

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right blade for your metals.
