Kinkelder KINS’ ORANGE

This is a short dictionary for buyers who meet unfamiliar words on a saw blade quote or a line page. Each term has a few plain sentences and a link to the guide that covers it in depth. The meanings follow our Kinkelder catalogue.

Blade material: TCT and HSS

TCT means tungsten carbide tipped. In our catalogue the KINS' ORANGE, BLUE and RED lines are TCT circular saw blades. Read HSS and TCT saw blades for buyers for how the lines differ.

HSS means high-speed steel. KINS' GREEN is the HSS line. Our catalogue describes it as typically used for low-tensile and sub-range medium-tensile work, and says HSS resists the heat made in cutting.

Blade design: segmental and flying cut-off

Segmental describes how a blade is built. The KINS' YELLOW body is chrome vanadium steel, with HSS toothed segments riveted to the edge. The catalogue says a damaged segment can be replaced on its own. See segmental saw blades.

Flying cut-off is a way of cutting, not a blade type. On a tube mill, the saw cuts pipe or profile without stopping or slowing the line. KINS' ORANGE is listed for it. Our guide to flying cut-off blades goes through the six versions.

Machine words: stationary, semi-automatic and tube mill

Stationary is a saw that cuts a piece held in place. It is the opposite of flying cut-off, where the tube keeps moving. Our catalogue lists KINS' BLUE for stationary and semi-automatic cutting, and KINS' RED as a solid stationary line.

Semi-automatic is listed beside stationary on the KINS' BLUE page. The catalogue does not define it further. Tell us how your machine feeds and clamps the material, and we will confirm the line. See saw blades for semi-automatic tube machines.

Tube mill is the production line that forms tube or pipe. Flying cut-off saws sit on it. If you run one, tell us the mill type.

Material words: tensile and stainless

Tensile is short for tensile strength, a property of the steel you cut. Our rating rows use the labels Low Tensile, Medium Tensile and High Tensile. Some rows combine them, such as Low/Med. Tensile. Check your steel grade first, then read choosing saw blades by steel tensile strength.

Stainless rows are separate from the tensile rows. A blade can score well on one and low on the other. Tell us if you cut stainless, and which grade.

Words on a line page and an old blade

Line is a colour-coded group of blades, such as KINS' RED. Our guide to the five Kinkelder colour lines says which job each line is listed for.

Version is one blade inside a line, such as KINS' RED LF. Its name is a label, so ask us if you want to know how two versions differ.

Rating row is a labelled score, such as Blade Life, shown up to 10. The catalogue does not define every row. Our guide on how to read Kinkelder blade ratings shows how to use them. You can also browse the saw blade range.

Your quote may ask for the size words below. They are common workshop terms, not catalogue terms.

  • Diameter is the distance across the blade.
  • Bore is the centre hole that fits the machine spindle.
  • Thickness is the thickness of the blade body.
  • Fixing holes are the extra holes that locate the blade on the machine, if it has them.
  • Blade code is the marking on the old blade. It helps us match a blade, so photograph it.

Our catalogue says blade size and specification depend on the machine, the cutting task and the material. Because of that, we confirm each size with you.

What to send us for a quote

  • The word on your quote or line page that is unclear.
  • The machine make and model, and whether it is stationary, semi-automatic or a tube mill.
  • What you cut: tube, pipe, profile or solid bar, with its size.
  • The steel grade, and whether it is stainless.
  • The old blade code, or its diameter, bore, thickness and fixing holes, with a photo.
  • The quantity you need.

Request a quote on our website or message us on WhatsApp, and we will explain the terms and confirm the right line for your job.
